Selected as 2007 Educator Champion of the Arts – Monterey County
Produced the Reel Work Film Festival in Monterey County for 5 years
Successfully represented faculty of California State University Monterey Bay in resolution of Personnel matters as Faculty Rights Chairperson.
Enriched “Aromas Arts” through grant writing that raised over $45,000 for Aromas Day “A Day in the Country” Festival and other events.
Produced the art exhibit “Rumme Living River: The Pajaro Watershed Experience.” The exhibit depicted the ongoing deterioration of the Pajaro River Watershed (winding through San Benito County and emptying into the Pacific at Pajaro Dunes). The Army Corps of Engineers adopted a plan to create a concrete canal displacing the natural habitats of river wildlife. The exhibit attracted thousands of attendees including the Army Corps of Engineers. Armed with a traveling exhibit and/or a multimedia presentation of the exhibit, “River Advocates” presented their case to the American people around the country. In 2006 the Pajaro River was declared the most endangered river in the United States.
Produced the art exhibit “The Creeks of Salinas: The Gavilan Watershed Experience.” The Watershed Institute at California State University Monterey Bay, several Salinas schools and other organizations participated in creating various elements for the exhibit. The multimedia exhibit was installed at the National Steinbeck Center in January 2010 and ran through April 2010.
